Jackson Class is very proud to receive the Tidy Kiwi award.
To visually represent family using Māori art, the koru, a symbol of new life and growth, can be used to represent the interconnectedness and journey of a family, with multiple koru growing from one to symbolize whakapapa (ancestry).
We practised making shapes of the koru, this is just a start.
Watch the space for our completed art pieces.
In Jackson class we have children coming from different parts of the world. We made posters to share the places where we come from.
We have been learning to write words by saying it slowly, so we can hear the first, middle and last sound in a word. Its fun to change the sounds and make new words.
Jackson Class has been learning about our own identities
Here are our ‘All about me posters that we made and shared with our class. We shared what each one of us liked, our favourite food, show, sport and our birthdays.
We are very proud of ourselves because we are the top scoring class. Look at the shield we have earned.
